Making It Affordable to Hire
SUN Youth℠ is built to be accessible to the whole community — not just those who can pay full professional rates.
It's More Affordable Than You Think
Most SUN Youth Track A casual gigs cost $15–$60 per session — less than a professional service company. You're paying for skilled, motivated neighborhood youth, not a corporate overhead-heavy service.
Title I Schools Subsidize Premier Access
Partner schools can use Title I funds to sponsor students' Premier guardian accounts. A school that sponsors 50 families creates 50 potential gig workers in your neighborhood — at no cost to you.
SphereUs Foundation Match Program
The SphereUs Foundation can subsidize gigs posted for seniors, people with disabilities, or low-income households. You post, we match part of the cost from Foundation funds raised through Golf Your Age.
SUN Coin Rewards = Real Value Back
Premier members earn SUN Coins on every gig they post. Post $500 in youth gigs this year and earn back SUN Coins worth $25–$50 in platform credit. Doing good actually pays you back.
5% Community Give-Back Built In
5% of every SUN Youth gig transaction flows to the SphereUs Foundation, which funds more gigs for families who can't afford services. By hiring, you're also giving.
Full Legal Compliance — Every Gig
SUN Youth℠ is engineered against every applicable Louisiana statute and federal law. Here's the full legal stack we enforce automatically.
Minor Labor Law — Application & Exemptions
Establishes that domestic service in private homes (the backbone of casual SUN Youth gigs) and agriculture are exempt from permit requirements. This is the foundation of Track A casual gig compliance.
Prohibited Occupations for Minors
Defines prohibited hazardous occupations for minors. SUN Youth's compliance engine checks every gig type against this list. Incorporates FLSA Hazardous Occupations Orders 1–17 by reference.
Work Hours — Under 16
No minor under 16 may work before 7am or after 7pm (school year), or after 9pm June 1 through Labor Day. SUN Youth's time-window gate enforces this automatically.
Daily Break Requirement
No minor under 16 may work more than 5 consecutive hours without a 30-minute break. SUN Youth gig structure limits sessions to 4-hour blocks for 12–15 to maintain compliance.
School Hours Restriction
Minors may not work during school hours. SUN Youth checks the youth's school calendar before allowing any weekday gig booking.
Important: Parishes vs. School Districts
In Louisiana, parishes are the primary geographic unit — the equivalent of counties in other states. Each parish has one or more school systems (some parishes have both a parish-wide system and an independent city system, e.g. Ouachita Parish + City of Monroe). SUN Youth compliance rules are applied at the parish level for geographic matching, but school authorization is issued by the specific school the student attends. This means a student in Orleans Parish may attend either an OPSB school or a charter — their authorization is tied to the specific school, not just the parish.
